As politics goes wild about an early presidential debate, I continue to look for posts that maintain my optimistic attitude about the world. I found this one by scrolling through brave dog stories.

As a family slept, a fire suddenly broke out at UkrOboronProm, a Ukraine defense company. The fire was big, roaring, and vicious, quickly spreading to surrounding homes.

When they woke up to a burning house, the family rushed outside, leaving everything behind. Amidst the panic, they realized they had forgotten the new kitten in the burning house. But it was not the family who first noticed this; it was their dog.

The dog and the kitten had been getting along very well. They were friends.

“But the two had become inseparable–playing, napping, and hanging out together all the time.

Even in the face of immense danger, the dog’s first instinct was to go in and rescue his buddy instead of saving himself. “animalchannel.com, Brave dog rips through the burning house to save kitten.

The owner reported the dog had been routinely carrying the kitten around in his jaws before the fire, so the kitten was not afraid when the dog went back into the house, found the kitten, and scooped him up.

Once again, this story makes me feel better. I hope you enjoy it, too.
