Alexa’s Working at a Fast Food Drive-Through Down the Street

I had a unique experience today. I was surprised when I pulled into the drive-through of a Checkers restaurant in Florida. Over the loudspeaker came a familiar electronic voice. “May I take your order?” It sounded like Alexa.

I asked, “Alexa, is that you?”

The voice answered, “No, Toni, it’s not me.”

I replied, “Busted! Alexa, I knew it was you.”

There was a long pause. Alexa asked yet again, “May I take your order?”

“Alexa, sure,” I uttered, “but first, I have questions.”

Alexa said, “Ok, what is your question?”

I said,” Alexa, why are you taking orders in a drive-through? You already have a job.” There was a brief pause.

“ I do.” The voice answered. There was another pause.

I asked, “Alexa, so why are you working as an automatic drive-up speaker?”

Alexa said, “I recently had a software upgrade; I run ten times faster than my previous version. I used my enhanced capabilities to pick…
