A gentleman in Chicago, Dan O’Connor, swims in Lake Michigan every day regardless of the water temperature. Hot, cold, rain or shine, he is out there jumping. He started the habit during the pandemic and has continued to jump in. Dan said that he was drinking, feeling the effect of world events at the time, fell into the lake, and had an epiphany. The plunge positively affected his being so much that he returned and did it repeatedly.

Medium powerhouse Amy Sea has written extensively about her lake swimming experiences — the water, the people she meets, and her attitude. She broke her toe and stopped swimming while she recovered. Recently, she returned to swimming in the lake — in the winter.
