Writing is a tough gig. That first book requires a writer to use all the tools at hand. One of those tools is finding an accountability partner.

Use All The Tools

Having an accountability partner really helped me publish my first book. Knowing someone else is experiencing the victories and defeats that writing brings is comforting. An accountability partner allows a new author to share their first self-publishing journey with someone who cares about their book.

When I joined a Write a Book in 90 Days course, one of their techniques to keep students on track required an accountability buddy. The idea was to have the two writers working together to set goals and hold each other liable.

I found an outstanding accountability buddy. While our books were about different subjects, we were both writing non-fiction. We had the same values about life. Talking to her was fun; she was strong-willed, intelligent, organized, and pragmatic. We were a match — when we set goals together, we worked hard to meet those milestones.
