Two ISS Astronauts Await Safe Return Amid Multiple Technical Issues
If I were an astronaut, I would not allow a Boeing vehicle to take me anywhere. Boeing has had too many technical issues involving quality for me.
Two astronauts, Sunita Williams and Barry Wilmore, flew to the International Space Station, ISS, on June 05 aboard a Boeing-built space vehicle, the Starliner, to stay for eight days. The Starliner ‘suffered technical difficulties’ once it got there. The rocket has at least three engineering problems that prevent it from undocking with the International Space Station, ISS, and bringing the two people back to Earth. They have been there for more than a month.
The Starliner has been postponed three times over the last five years. The cost overruns on this program are at $1.5 Billion. Yes, you did not misread that is a ‘B’. Boeing was given $5 billion to build the Starliner. The $1.5 billion came out of Boeing’s pocket.
The program started in 2014 when the government awarded contracts to Boeing and SpaceX to build the first commercial spacecraft.
