Racists are sending scary, slavery-themed text messages to Black people, including middle school children, high schoolers, and adults. The messages vary slightly, with many claiming to be from the Trump campaign.
The first messages were sent the day after the election. That the first thing someone did to celebrate Trump’s win was to text middle and high school Black children causes pause. The message was designed to scare them, which is disgusting.
Think about why anyone would take the time to do such a thing, and you preview what is going to go on with Black people for the next four years as emboldened white people feel the power of Trump in the highest seat in our nation.
Then, think about the fact that some of the messages claim to be from the Trump campaign to lend them legitimacy. Let me repeat that. The racist thought people would assume that it was reasonable that these types of messages would come from the Trump campaign. Wow. Just wow.
