He did it again yesterday. We were eating a diet dinner of grilled trout, rice, and ginger salad. Each of us had a massive fillet of trout. He took his uneaten food, wrapped it up, and put it in the fridge for later. He then returned to his seat to watch me finish eating. I could not eat the whole fillet, so the uneaten portion was sitting on my plate.

He stood up, picked up my plate, and took it to the microwave. He gently reheated my food, sat back down, and started eating from my plate.

“I thought you were done,” I said.

“I am done,” he said as he cut another piece of my trout and put it in his mouth. He added more dressing to my salad and then scooped a forkful into his mouth.

“If you are done, why are you eating my food?” I asked.

My husband looked surprised at my question. “I always eat your food,” he replied. “You notice it more when we are counting calories. Your food is more delicious…
