47’s OMB, The Office Of Management and Budget, emailed all federal agencies at 10:30 p.m. on January 27, requiring these agencies to temporarily halt grants and loans except for Social Security and Medicare. The hold takes effect at 5 p.m. on January 28th, 2025, unless something stops the hold.

The new administration wants to ensure that the billions of loans and grants match Trump’s new and exciting executive orders.

All funds being held have already been approved by Congress and were being distributed. Trump can put a temporary hold on funds but not a permanent hold via his administration as he is in the Executive branch. Congress, the legislative branch, holds the authority for the budget and the purse strings. The approved budget is actually already law.

What does it mean? Economists think this means no money will flow to various federal programs that receive grants and loans. I looked.

My list is not as long as many others because I researched and double-checked that they qualify as “federal loans or grants recipients.” If I…
