I’m going to say the quiet part out loud.

This day is much better without them. You know, the people who want to gloat, pick a fight, or be rude to those who disagree with them — people who are angry that you are not angry.

There is no irrational talk about others being “not like us.” There are no outlandish conspiracy theories about why the sky is blue. There is no tearing down those who express love differently from how they see it or how they complain about how others see themselves.

When you grow up with people, you want to stay connected on holidays despite having different opinions. But that’s no longer the case. This was the first year I did not invite them, and I always knew their views. They will never be asked again. They called to ask why, and I told them.

I am having a magnificent day today with joyful people. Laughter is everywhere in my house. We are eating delicious food and drinking fine wine. People are relaxed and smiling. Kindness abounds. My heart is whole.

I am stuffed like a tick on a blue coon hound. I feel fine as I have had wine all day while cooking and more while eating dinner. The day has gone well.

I hope everyone in…
