Trigger warning: This is straight talk about our country.

I guess the response Trump and the Republicans are getting from Black people by gutting every DEI, Diversity, and Affirmative Action program they can find is unsatisfactory.

Let me start with the fact that I am not an angry Black person writing this post. I am shocked, saddened, and amused that the Trump administration believes they can play us so easily.

Our federal government is so paranoid someone will have an intelligent conversation around DEI that they are banning certain words in official federal documents. They are banning words that even hint at an inequitable situation. Damn words, they are everywhere. But that is a post for another day.

There are no fiery riots in the street with Black Americans getting sprayed by fire hoses, beaten by police officers, bitten by dogs, kicked by random white passersby, and brutally arrested. Nope. DEI was not working for us.

The emotional protests after the death of George Floyd are nowhere to be seen. Why is that?

We learned.

Companies put in DEI programs quickly — most of them run by white people.

“According to the job search site Zippia, 76% of chief diversity officer roles are held by White people, and 54% are held by women.” CNN/ https://www.cnn.com › dei-programs-diversity-list

We quickly learned the so-called DEI programs did not help Blacks. The effective programs mainly promoted white women, veterans, and the disabled. The ineffective programs did nothing for anybody.

We still saw mediocre white men being routinely promoted over qualified Black people, women, disabled, and veterans.

Our grandparents and parents made some things very clear to us. They lived under the separate but equal ruling from the Supreme Court.

“The separate but equal doctrine was a racist legal principle that permitted racial segregation in the United States
