“The thing about parenting rules is there aren’t any. That’s what makes it so difficult.” — Ewan McGregor

Out of Whack

I saw my neighbor walking her little boy to kindergarten this morning. This is my neighbor who always looks well put together. I don’t know her ethnicity, but she has bright carrot-colored hair, pale white skin, large bright blue-green eyes, and freckles.

Her hair is long and shiny, always in a long messy ponytail looking great. She seems ready for the world when she steps out the door. I’m sure she works from home. She is dressed, business casual every time you see her.

This morning, that same well-put-together woman was walking her kid to school with jeans on top of her pajamas. You could see the pajama top being used as a blouse and the PJ pants flopping from the bottoms of her jean pant legs. She had on clogs.

Her hair was in some sort of pin curls, with one side totally hanging down loosely on the other. I could not tell you what was up with the rat’s nest in the back of her head.
