Rachel Gunn’s last-place breakdancing performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics brought joy to many online.

She competed as a B-girl representing Australia. Her moves were-to say it nicely-unconventional. She lost all three rounds of her break dance battle, scoring zero points. Many wondered how she qualified for the Olympic spot.

Well, she won her place fair and square. Raygun earned her way onto the Australian Olympic team. It turns out that Rachel Gun, aka Raygun:

· has a PhD in breakdancing

· teaches university in Australia, specializing in the cultural effects of breakdancing

· was the top Australian B-girl in 2020

· was the top Australian B-girl in 2021

· represented her country in the World Breaking Championship in 2021, 2022, and 2023

· won the 2023 Oceania Breaking championship, winning a tough last round against her competitor, Molly, which sent her to the Olympics for Australia

Raygun is actually one of the best her country has to offer.

Congratulations, Raygun, for living your dream. You will always be an Olympian.
